For the past twenty years I've been working on a series of 9" x 12" sketchbooks in which, through a complex and often chance-based integration of writing, research, and visual work, I've been exploring perception, light, movement, and mediated surface.

Functioning as a type of mobile studio, the sketchbooks have provided an open arena for spontaneous experimentation and reflection. They have proved an invaluable resource for ensuing work in site-based projects, photography, printmaking, and video.
